Abstract :
PURPOE: To report two cae in which a bull’ eye maculopathy developed after intravitreal injection of fomiviren.
METHOD: Cae report.
REULT: A 50-year-old man with acquired immunodeficiency yndrome (AID) and refractory cytomegaloviru retiniti developed bull’-eye pigmentary change in the macula of the right eye after initiating therapy with fomiviren (Vitravene; CIBA Viion, Atlanta, Georgia) intravitreal injection. Thee pigmentary change reolved upon ceation of treatment. A 36-year-old man with AID and refractory bilateral cytomegaloviru retiniti developed bull’-eye pigmentary change in both eye during bilateral intravitreal treatment with fomiviren. Viion wa not affected. Thee change reolved after treatment with fomiviren wa topped.
CONCLUION: Fomiviren, a new medication for the treatment of refractory cytomegaloviru retiniti, may caue a bull’-eye maculopathy in ome patient. The bull’-eye maculopathy i reverible and doe not appear to affect viion
