Abstract
PURPOE: To preent emerging perpective on open-angle glaucoma related to patient compliance, current drug therapy, and treatment option.
METHOD: Roundtable dicuion.
REULT: The panel dicuion identified the following iue about patient compliance:
1. It i a common problem in clinical practice and i often underappreciated by phyician.
2. It i difficult for clinician to detect.
3. There are everal rik factor that increae the probability of noncompliance.
4. Compliance can be improved through education, communication, improvement of the doctor–patient relationhip, compliance aid, and implifying the treatment regimen.
CONCLUION: Patient’ compliance with the therapeutic regimen for open-angle glaucoma i very important to the eventual outcome of their dieae treatment. Phyician can improve their patient’ compliance by a few imple, cot-effective intervention in the clinical etting. When conidering different agent a firt-line therapie, once-a-day doing would be optimal for enhancing compliance.
