Abstract :
PURPOE: To evaluate the relationhip between ocular perfuion preure and color Doppler meaurement in patient with glaucoma. MATERIAL AND METHOD: Twenty patient with primary open-angle glaucoma with viual field deterioration in pite of an intraocular preure lowered below 21 mm Hg, 20 age-matched patient with glaucoma with table viual field, and 20 age-matched healthy control were recruited. After a 20-minute ret in a upine poition, intraocular preure and color Doppler meaurement parameter of the ophthalmic artery and the central retinal artery were obtained. Correlation between mean ocular perfuion preure and color Doppler meaurement parameter were determined. REULT: Patient with glaucoma howed a higher intraocular preure (P < .0008) and a lower mean ocular perfuion preure (P < .0045) compared with healthy ubject. Patient with deteriorating glaucoma howed a lower mean blood preure (P = .033) and a lower end diatolic velocity in the central retinal artery (P = .0093) compared with normal. Mean ocular perfuion preure correlated poitively with end diatolic velocity in the ophthalmic artery (R = 0.66, P = .002) and central retinal artery (R = 0.74, P < .0001) and negatively with reitivity index in the ophthalmic artery (R = −0.70, P = .001) and central retinal artery (R = −0.62, P = .003) in patient with deteriorating glaucoma. uch correlation did not occur in patient with glaucoma with table viual field or in normal ubject. The correlation were tatitically ignificantly different between the tudy group (parallelim of regreion line in an analyi of covariance model) for end diatolic velocity (P = .001) and reitivity index (P = .0001) in the ophthalmic artery, a well a for end diatolic velocity (P = .0009) and reitivity index (P = .001) in the central retinal artery. CONCLUION: The preent finding ugget that alteration in ocular blood flow regulation may contribute to the progreion in glaucomatou damage.
