Abstract
PURPOE: To report the concurrent occurrence of choroidal melanoma in a on and father.
METHOD: Cae report. The likelihood of familial occurrence of uveal melanoma in which father and on are affected wa etimated uing the principle of probability.
REULT: Unilateral choroidal melanoma wa diagnoed in a 41-year-old man. Three month later, hi 68-year-old father preented with a pigmented choroidal ma that greatly increaed in ize during the next 6 month and wa diagnoed a choroidal melanoma. No peronal or family hitory of atypical mole, cutaneou melanoma, or other malignancy exited. The likelihood of familial occurrence of uveal melanoma uing principle of probability wa etimated to be 1 in 10 million.
CONCLUION: Conidering the low prevalence of uveal melanoma in the general population, the likelihood of uveal melanoma occurring in a family etting i remote.
