Abstract :
PURPOE: To document and tudy the relationhip between perimetric enitivity and retinal thickne at the foveal and parafoveal point in eye with macular edema aociated with branch retinal vein occluion. METHOD: A propective tudy wa performed uing the central 10-2 Humphrey perimetry program and optical coherence tomography. eventeen eye with branch retinal vein occluion were eligible howing macular edema without macular nonperfuion or maive retinal hemorrhage. REULT: The enitivity and retinal thickne were ignificantly correlated at the fovea (r = −0.629, P = .006) a well a 1 (r = −0.656, P < .0001) and 3 (r = −0.885, P < .0001) degree apart from the fovea. The viual acuity that i expreed a a logarithm of the minimum angle of reolution (LogMAR) alo correlated with retinal thickne (r = 0.591, P = .011). CONCLUION: The increaed retinal thickne reulting from macular edema i cloely correlated with retinal enitivity a meaured by automated tatic perimetry both at the fovea and parafovea. Meauring the retinal thickne uing optical coherence tomography may be ueful in monitoring macular edema in eye with branch retinal vein occluion
