Abstract
PURPOE: To report our initial experience of inferior limited macular tranlocation in patient with ubfoveal choroidal neovacularization reulting from caue other than age-related macular degeneration.
METHOD: We conducted a retropective tudy of 23 eye of 22 patient with choroidal neovacularization involving the foveal center econdary to pathologic myopia (11 eye), ocular hitoplamoi yndrome (four eye), angioid treak (four eye), idiopathic neovacularization (three eye), and multifocal choroiditi (one eye), in which the fovea wa moved inferiorly by mean of limited macular tranlocation urgery. The mean preoperative bet-corrected viual acuity wa 20/150, and in five of 23 eye (21.7%) the viual acuity wa 20/80 or better. The major outcome meaure were preoperative and potoperative viual acuity, potoperative foveal diplacement, and complication related to the urgery.
REULT: The mean potoperative follow-up wa 10.82 month (range, 6 to 18 month). Potoperative bet-corrected viual acuity improved by 2 or more nellen line of viual acuity in 11 of 23 eye (47.82%), remained within 1 line in even of 23 eye (30.43%), and worened 2 or more line of viion in five of 23 eye (21.74%). The mean potoperative bet-corrected viual acuity wa 20/100, and in 12 of the 23 eye (52.17%) the viual acuity achieved wa 20/80 or better. Retinal detachment wa the mot frequent complication and occurred in ix eye (26%).
CONCLUION: Our initial experience with limited macular tranlocation how that thi treatment modality offer the potential to improve viual function in ome eye with ubfoveal choroidal neovacularization econdary to myopia, ocular hitoplamoi yndrome, angioid treak, idiopathic neovacularization, and multifocal choroiditi. Although longer and more complete follow-up i needed, the reult of thi initial erie warrant further tudie to define the precie role of macular tranlocation in the management of thee condition
