Modified technique of haptic externalization for cleral fixation of dilocated poterior chamber len implant

PURPOE: To decribe a modified technique of haptic externalization during repoitioning of dilocated poterior chamber len implant, which facilitate placement of cleral fixation uture around the haptic for implant tabilization. METHOD: We decribe a technique of repoitioning a dilocated poterior chamber implant with cleral fixation uture, which ue a mall, clear corneal inciion for externalization of the haptic. After a loop of 10–0 Prolene uture (Ethicon, Inc., omerville, New Jerey) i placed around the externalized haptic, the uture are retrieved through a clerotomy 1.0 mm poterior to the limbu. The haptic i reimplanted into the ciliary ulcu. A eparate cleral fixation bite cloe the clerotomy, and it i tied to the 10–0 Prolene uture looped around the haptic. REULT: The dilocated implant wa table and fixated in good poition 5 month after urgery uing thi technique. CONCLUION: Thi externalization technique minimize the extenive intraocular manipulation neceary to create a uture loop around a haptic of a dilocated implant. The clear corneal inciion allow for clear viualization during externalization of the haptic.
