Abstract :
PURPOE: To report a cae of fungal keratiti with conecutive endophthalmiti caued by Microphaeropi olivacea. METHOD: Cae report. REULT: A 51-year-old man developed fungal keratiti and conecutive endophthalmiti after utaining a penetrating injury to the right eye. Culture of the aqueou humor yielded M. olivacea. Infection reolved after intraocular fungal debridement, intravitreou amphotericin B, and aggreive topical natamycin and oral fluconazole. Peritent, low-grade moldering corneal and intraocular inflammation required topical corticoteroid therapy. CONCLUION: M. olivacea i an exceedingly rare ocular pathogen. The intraocular portion of the infection reponded quickly to intravitreal antifungal treatment; however, the coure wa prolonged by moldering corneal inflammation. Prompt recognition of intraocular pread and aggreive treatment may be beneficial in fungal infection caued by unuual organim with uncertain virulence.
