Abstract :
PURPOE: To determine the effect of an acute doe of 0.005% latanoprot on intraocular preure and pulatile ocular blood flow in normal eye.
METHOD: Nineteen volunteer received a ingle doe (two drop) of latanoprot 0.005% in one eye and placebo in the fellow control eye, randomized and maked to the oberver. Intraocular preure, perfuion preure, pulatile ocular blood flow, and ytemic circulatory parameter were meaured before and 8 hour after doing.
REULT: The mean (± E) intraocular preure, perfuion preure, and pulatile ocular blood flow before treatment were 17 ± 1 mm Hg, 46 ± 3 mm Hg, and 13 ± 1 μl per econd, repectively, in both the treated and control eye. The mean intraocular preure reduction wa 4.9 and 2.1 mm Hg (28% and 12%) in the treated and fellow eye, repectively. The mean perfuion preure increae wa 5.6 and 2.8 mm Hg (12% and 6%) in the treated and fellow eye, repectively. The mean pulatile ocular blood flow increae wa 2.7 and 0.2 μl per econd (20% and 1%) in the treated and fellow eye, repectively. The treated eye change in pulatile ocular blood flow wa not correlated to the change in perfuion preure. imultaneou reduction of intraocular preure and increae or no ignificant change in pulatile ocular blood flow occurred in 15 of 19 (79%) of the treated eye. The ytemic blood preure and pule rate remained in normal range over the 8-hour period.
CONCLUION: In thi tudy, topical latanoprot ignificantly reduce intraocular preure and increae ocular blood flow in normal eye 8 hour after doing. Thee effect of latanoprot may be beneficial in the management of glaucoma patient.
