Abstract :
PURPOE: To evaluate ocular feature in patient preenting with inflammation in the preence of anticardiolipin antibodie.
METHOD: A decriptive tudy of 13 patient preenting with idiopathic ocular inflammation involving anterior and poterior egment wa performed. Patient were followed for a mean follow-up of 22 month (range, 1 to 125). A comprehenive report of ocular involvement, including viual ymptom, viual acuity, clinical characteritic, funducopic and fluorangiographic feature, wa reported. ytemic aociated ymptom were analyzed. Laboratory invetigation included anticardiolipin antibody titer and iotype, preence of other autoantibodie, and marker of immune ytem activation.
REULT: The mot common ocular ymptom at preentation wa blurred viion (eight patient) followed by redne and pain(three patient) and viual lo(two patient). Anterior egment abnormalitie, including iriti (eight patient) cleriti (two patient) and filamentary keratiti (one patient), were preent in 76% of patient, wherea the mot repreented feature of poterior involvement wa retinal vaculiti (60%) followed by vitriti (38%), retinal detachment (15%), poterior cleriti (7%), and central retinal artery occluion (7%). All patient had abnormal titer of anticardiolipin antibodie, predominantly IgG iotype; ix had marker of immune ytem activation.
CONCLUION: Although poterior pole dieae i more commonly aociated with anticardiolipin antibodie, the anterior egment can alo be involved with a wide pectrum of feature. cleriti ha never been previouly decribed a aociated with anticardiolipin antibodie. ytemic ymptom are frequently preent in aociation with ocular dieae.
