Abstract :
PURPOE: Although the depigmented, mall, round to oval leion een in the unet glow fundi of Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada dieae are conidered to repreent Dalén-Fuch nodule, there i no hitopathologic evidence to upport uch a conideration. An attempt i made herein to clarify the nature of the atrophic leion and ditinguih them from Dalén-Fuch nodule een in eye with Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada dieae.
METHOD: Eye from five individual with clinical diagnoe of Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada dieae were ubjected to hitopathologic examination. The retinal pigment epithelial change from early active to convalecent and late chronic recurrent tage were evaluated. Particular attention wa paid to Dalén-Fuch nodule, depigmented leion in the unet glow fundi, and hyperpigmentation of the chronic recurrent tage.
REULT: Eye of two individual, one in the active tage of Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada dieae and the other in the convalecent tage, howed the preence of Dalén-Fuch nodule. The depigmented mall retinal pigment epithelial leion were een in two individual, both of whom exhibited the unet glow fundu of the convalecent tage. The retinal pigment epithelial leion repreented damage or diappearance of retinal pigment epithelial cell, and the unet glow fundu appearance wa from the lo of choroidal melanocyte. The heavy pigmentation een in fundi with the chronic recurrent tage wa the reult of the proliferation of retinal pigment epithelial cell.
CONCLUION: The Dalén-Fuch nodule i a pecific hitologic change oberved at the level of retinal pigment epithelium in patient with Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada dieae. There i no hitologic confirmation that the depigmented mall atrophic leion een in the unet glow fundi of Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada dieae are Dalén-Fuch nodule. The depigmented leion repreent localized damage or diappearance of retinal pigment epithelial cell.
