Abstract :
PURPOE: To determine the prevalence and incidence of hort wavelength automated perimetry deficit in comparion to tandard automated perimetry deficit in patient with ocular hypertenion. METHOD: Five hundred eye of 250 patient with ocular hypertenion were recruited into a propective, longitudinal tudy and teted with tandard automated perimetry and hort wavelength automated perimetry annually for 5 year. Both eye of 60 normal ubject, 21 to 85 year of age, were ued to etablih normative data for hort wavelength automated perimetry and tandard automated perimetry. Thi allowed independent evaluation of left and right eye of patient. All normal data were corrected for age, and hort wavelength automated perimetry reult were corrected for len tranmiion. The lowet fifth and firt percentile for the normal oberver were derived for the 10 glaucoma hemifield tet zone for hort wavelength automated perimetry and tandard automated perimetry. Viual field were conidered outide normal limit if two glaucoma hemifield tet zone were below the normal fifth percentile or one glaucoma hemifield tet zone wa below the normal firt percentile. REULT: Baeline prevalence of hort wavelength automated perimetry and tandard automated perimetry deficit were 9.4% and 1.4%, repectively. During the tudy, incident rate of field lo were 6.2% (1.23% per year) for hort wavelength automated perimetry and 5.9% (1.18% per year) for tandard automated perimetry. Once abnormal, 80% of hort wavelength automated perimetry field remained abnormal on the next examination, wherea only 45% of abnormal tandard automated perimetry field remained abnormal. New hort wavelength automated perimetry deficit in ocular hypertenive were more prominent and more peritent than new tandard automated perimetry deficit. CONCLUION: Our finding are conitent with the interpretation that hort wavelength automated perimetry deficit occur before tandard automated perimetry deficit in glaucoma. The imilar incidence rate ugget that both tandard automated perimetry and hort wavelength automated perimetry are monitoring the ame underlying glaucomatou dieae proce
