Abstract :
PURPOE: To report a cae of acute potoperative bacterial endophthalmiti preenting with retinal vaculiti and poterior pole “hypopyon.”
DEIGN: Obervational cae report.
METHOD: Obervational cae report.
REULT: In a 73-year-old woman, acute potoperative endophthalmiti preented with retinal vaculiti, diffue retinal hemorrhage, and everal poterior pole “hypopyon” that were collection of yellow–white inflammatory debri. The inflammation wa located primarily in the poterior one third of the vitreou, and except for everely impaired viual acuity, the claic ign of acute potoperative endophthalmiti were not preent until the next day. An immediate par plana vitrectomy with intravitreal injection of vancomycin, amikacin, and dexamethaone wa performed. Vitreou and aqueou culture grew coagulae-negative taphylococcu pecie. After intravenou and topical therapy for endophthalmiti, the inflammation ubided. Eight week after the initial cataract urgery, the bet corrected viual acuity of the patient wa 20/25.
CONCLUION: Acute potoperative bacterial endophthalmiti may preent with atypical clinical ign and inflammation located primarily in the retina and poterior vitreou
