Anterior capular contraction after cataract urgery in vitrectomized eye

PURPOE: To ae the contraction of continuou curvilinear capulorhexi after cataract urgery in eye with pat par plana vitrectomy. METHOD: In a propective tudy, 16 eye of 16 patient underwent phacoemulification and implantation of a foldable acrylic intraocular len after par plana vitrectomy. Eye after intenive or repeated vitrectomy were not included. Twenty eye of 19 patient erved a age-matched control. Aqueou flare intenity wa meaured uing the laer flare-cell meter 1 year after urgery. The area of anterior capular opening (ACO) wa determined by diaphanocopy uing the anterior eye egment analyi ytem EA-1000 at 1 day and 1 year potoperatively. REULT: There wa no ignificant difference in the mean ACO area between the vitrectomy and control group both at 1 day and 1 year potoperatively. Aqueou flare intenity 1 year after urgery wa lightly higher in the vitrectomy group, but the difference wa not tatitically ignificant. CONCLUION: Eye after imple vitrectomy are not at a higher rik of ACO contraction following cataract urgery.
