Electroretinogram in the diagnoi of endophthalmiti after intraocular len implantation

PURPOE: To determine whether ingle flah electroretinogram can ait in the diagnoi of eye with endophthalmiti after intraocular len implantation. METHOD: ixteen eye with potoperative endophthalmiti treated with vitrectomy or intraocular len removal were tudied. The preoperative electroretinogram finding, duration until the onet of endophthalmiti, culture reult, and potoperative viual acuity were analyzed. REULT: Four eye with a b-wave/a-wave (b/a) ratio le than 1.0 and early onet of endophthalmiti within 1 week had wore potoperative viual acuity (no light perception to 20/200) than the other 12 eye (20/100 to 20/15) (P = .0035). Peudomona aeruginoa and Enterococcu faecali were cultured in thee 4 eye. CONCLUION: The combination of a b/a ratio le than 1.0 and early onet of endophthalmiti may indicate poor prognoi in a patient with potoperative endophthalmiti.
