Central retinal artery occluion in aociation with an aneurym of the internal carotid artery

PURPOE: To report an unuual cae of central retinal artery occluion in a 41-year-old woman. DEIGN: Interventional cae report. METHOD: A 41-year-old woman preented with udden and painle decreae of viual acuity of the left eye. Indirect ophthalmocopy revealed the typical fundu finding of a central retinal artery occluion. The fovea wa pared by a cilioretinal arteriole. REULT: Cerebral angiography howed an aneurym of the left internal carotid artery, meauring approximately 1.7 × 1.5 × 1.7 cm. The aneurym wa located in cloe proximity to the ophthalmic branch. CONCLUION: Aneurym of the intracranial arterie hould be included in the differential diagnoi of central retinal artery occluion in young patient.
