Fat adherence yndrome after retinal urgery treated with amniotic membrane tranplantation

PURPOE: We preent favorable reult with amniotic membrane tranplantation in a patient who developed fat adherence yndrome after retinal urgery. DEIGN: Interventional cae report. METHOD: A 37-year-old man had diplopia reulting from hypotropia of the left eye after retinal detachment urgery. Removal of a previouly implanted ilicon ponge had little effect becaue of fibrou adheion between the inferior rectu mucle and adjacent periorbital fat. We performed amniotic membrane tranplantation combined with conventional extraocular mucle urgery. REULT: Potoperatively, upraduction of the left eye became almot full. The field of binocular viion wa extended markedly by treatment, both in the primary poition and with downward gaze. Thee improvement remained table over 1 year of follow-up. CONCLUION: Amniotic membrane tranplantation appear to be effective for preventing regrowth of retrictive car tiue in the fat adherence yndrome
