Abstract
PURPOE: To report the clinical outcome of a diabetic patient with macular edema treated with an intravitreal injection of crytalline cortione.
METHOD: Interventional cae report. A 73-year-old patient with diabete mellitu preented with clinically ignificant diffue macular edema caued by nonproliferative diabetic retinopathy. Depite grid laer coagulation in the macular region, cytoid macular edema progreed, and within 6 month before the cortione injection, viual acuity declined from 0.25 to 0.16 and, finally, to 0.10. The patient received a ingle intravitreal injection of triamcinolone acetonide with topical anetheia.
REULT: After the intravitreal injection of triamcinolone acetonide, viual acuity improved from 0.10 to 0.40 during the follow-up period panning 5 month. Intraocular preure increaed to value up to 30 mm Hg before antiglaucomatou treatment.
CONCLUION: Intravitreal injection of triamcinolone acetonide may be ueful for treatment of diabetic macular edema reitant to conventional therapy
