Abstract :
PURPOE: To evaluate the effect of latanoprot and unoprotone on the intraocular preure (IOP) and on the tonographic outflow facility in glaucoma patient when ued alone or in combination. DEIGN: Open label randomized clinical tudy. METHOD: Fifty-two patient (52 eye) with primary open-angle glaucoma were randomly divided into two group. One group initially received only latanoprot 0.005% once daily and the other group, only unoprotone 0.12% twice daily. The tudy period wa 12 week: in the firt 6 week, latanoprot or unoprotone wa given a monotherapy, and in the lat 6 week, patient received both drug. IOP wa meaured every 2 week by one invetigator maked to the medication received by patient during the tudy period in the ame hour a on the baeline day. At Week 0, 6, and 12, the coefficient of aqueou outflow wa meaured by tonography. REULT: With latanoprot monotherapy, the baeline IOP of 22.9 ± 2.4 mm Hg (mean ± D) decreaed to 16.9 ± 2.1 mm Hg (P< .01). When unoprotone wa added to latanoprot, the IOP remained at 16.7 ± 2.5 mm Hg. With unoprotone monotherapy, the baeline IOP of 22.7 ± 2.1 mm Hg decreaed to 19.4 ± 2.4 mm Hg (P< .01). When latanoprot wa added to unoprotone, the IOP decreaed to 16.8 ± 1.7 mm Hg (P< .01). There wa no ignificant change in the coefficient of aqueou outflow with monotherapy or the combined ue of the drug. CONCLUION: The combination of latanoprot and unoprotone doe not reult in a more potent hypotenive effect than latanoprot alone.
