Abstract
PURPOE: We compared the efficacy of different contact len diinfection ytem to eliminate adenoviru.
METHOD: Laboratory tudy evaluating the elimination of adenoviral ocular iolate by contact len diinfection ytem. Hard (ga permeable) and oft contact lene were contaminated with adenoviru erotype 8 and 19, and then they were diinfected with chemical, hydrogen peroxide, and heat terilization ytem. The urvival of the adenoviru wa determined by the hell vial technique.
REULT: Adenoviru urvived chemical and hydrogen peroxide diinfection but not heat terilization.
CONCLUION: Becaue heat terilization i not readily available to terilize adenoviru contaminated contact lene, it may be prudent for patient with adenoviral keratoconjunctiviti to dipoe of unclean contact lene.
