Abstract
tomography (PECT) image with N-iopropyl-p-[123I]-iodoamphetamine (123I-IMP) a a radiopharmaceutical for the diagnoi of uveal melanoma.
METHOD: Conecutive interventional cae erie. ingle photon emiion computed tomography image were obtained after intravenou injection of 123I-IMP in 20 patient with clinically upected uveal melanoma (16 eye of 16 patient) or ocular adnexal melanoma (four adnexal tumor of four patient). Hitologic finding in even eye enucleated for uveal melanoma were analyzed with the PECT image emiquantitavely evaluated.
REULT: Eight of 20 eye with upected uveal melanoma howed high accumulation of 123I-IMP in the late phae in the area correponding to the uveal tumor, and the diagnoi of uveal melanoma wa confirmed hitologically in even enucleated eye. Tumor ize and hitologic feature did not reflect the intenity of cintillation count of 123I-IMP. Twelve patient with no accumulation on the PECT image were found to have clinically or hitologically iri nevu, choroidal nevu, and other intraocular and adnexal condition.
CONCLUION: N-iopropyl p-[123I]-iodoamphetamone PECT may erve a a enitive and pecific examination for the diagnoi of uveal melanoma.
