Vitreoretinal morphology of plamin-treated human eye

PURPOE: To invetigate the ultratructure of the vitreoretinal interface following an intravitreal injection of plamin. METHOD: Plamin (2 U/0.1 ml) wa injected into the vitreou cavity of five potmortem human eye. The five fellow eye received phophate-buffered aline and erved a control. After incubation at 37°C for 30 minute, the globe were placed in fixative and hemiected. pecimen for canning and tranmiion electron microcopy were obtained uing a corneal trephine. REULT: All plamin-treated eye howed complete vitreoretinal eparation with pare collagen fibril covering the inner limiting membrane. All control eye howed an attached cortical vitreou. At the vitreou bae, there wa no cleaving effect. The retinal morphology of plamin-treated eye wa unchanged. CONCLUION: Plamin induce a cleavage between the vitreou cortex and the inner limiting membrane without morphologic alteration of the retina
