Abstract
PURPOE: To ae the accuracy and preciion of method in clinical ue for intraocular drug injection.
DEIGN: Experimental laboratory invetigation.
METHOD: A total of 800 injection were performed uing 20 different 1-ml yringe at intended volume of 0.10 ml and 0.05 ml. The volume of each injection wa calculated from ma of water delivered onto an analytic balance.
REULT: The mean meaured volume delivered wa le than the intended volume for every yringe (P < .001 for each yringe at each volume). A total of 7% and 22% of injection differed by 20% or more from the intended volume of 0.10 ml and 0.05 ml, repectively. Overdelivery of volume wa uncommon.
CONCLUION: Clinically relevant material and method ued for intraocular injection of drug ytematically underdelivered the intended volume.
