Abstract :
PURPOE: To report hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine retinopathy and conider creening for drug toxicity. DEIGN: Retropective obervational cae erie. METHOD: Review of clinical record, viual field, fundu photograph, and fluorecein angiography of ix patient from a retina referral practice. REULT: All cae aroe becaue of failure by phyician to avoid doing above publihed afe level. Five cae developed depite accepted ophthalmologic pattern of creening for toxicity. All cae developed parafoveal retinal pigment epithelial atrophic change and paracentral cotoma to threhold viual field teting. CONCLUION: New cae of hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine toxicity continue to develop in a creening environment. Increaed ophthalmologic attention to doing, awarene of location and nature of early viual field defect, and traditional attention to preence or abence of maculopathy can reduce the incidence of thi avoidable condition.
