Abstract :
PURPOE: To report a caual relationhip between Chiari I malformation and it rare, but recognized manifetation of bilateral papilledema.
DEIGN: Interventional cae erie.
METHOD: Four adult female patient (mean age, 48, age range 25–59 year) with bilateral papilledema, ign and ymptom of increaed intracranial preure, and cranial magnetic reonance imaging (MRI) evidence of a Chiari I malformation ranging from 7 to 22 mm of tonillar herniation underwent uboccipital decompreion.
REULT: In all four patient, uboccipital decompreion wa followed by reolution of bilateral papilledema and ign and ymptom of increaed intracranial preure.
CONCLUION: Patient with bilateral papilledema and preumed peudotumor cerebri require a cranial MRI to determine if they have a Chiari I malformation, becaue patient with increaed intracranial preure and papilledema from a Chiari I malformation may benefit from uboccipital decompreion
