Abstract :
PURPOE: To decribe clinical characteritic of erpiginou choroidopathy in the North Indian population.
DEIGN: Retropective cohort-baed tudy.
METHOD: Record of 86 patient who obtained a diagnoi of erpiginou choroidopathy at preentation or after a minimal follow-up of 2 year were retrieved. Group I included 62 patient who were diagnoed a having erpiginou choroidopathy at the initial preentation. Group II included 20 patient who initially preented a having multifocal placoid pigment epitheliopathy reembling acute poterior multifocal placoid pigment epitheliopathy (APMPPE) and had progreed over year to erpiginou choroidopathy, while group III had 4 patient with mixed preentation. tatitical analyi wa done uing the chi-quare and Mann-Whitney U tet. A review of the clinical, hitorical, fundu photographic, and fluorecein angiographic feature wa performed. The demographic and clinical feature, number of recurrence, final viual acuity, and final decription of healed leion were documented.
REULT: The median age at preentation wa 30 year in group I, 29 year in group II, and 31 year in group III. The dieae wa bilateral in five (15%) patient in group I, 12 (60%) in group II, and all four in group III. All the affected eye in group II and III and 58 eye (87%) in group I had recurrence over 2 to 8 year of follow up. Compared with group I, group II wa characterized by more bilaterality (P = .001), le central foveal involvement (P = .001), better final viual acuity (P = .001), the preence of healed multifocal car (P = .001), and le ubretinal fibroi (P = .02). Four patient in group III howed mixed feature.
CONCLUION: erpiginou choroidopathy in our population wa een in young patient and had three ditinct preentation that eemed to affect the choriocapillari primarily. Our patient appeared to have a variation of erpiginou choroidopathy, typical of the Aian-Indian population, that had ome important difference from that reported in Caucaian
