Vitreou hemorrhage a the initial preentation of potoperative endophthalmiti

PURPOE: To decribe a patient with potoperative endophthalmiti whoe only abnormal finding at preentation wa a vitreou hemorrhage. DEIGN: Interventional cae report. METHOD: A 68-year-old diabetic woman underwent cataract extraction with intraocular len implantation in the left eye. Three day after urgery, he had painle lo of viion, minimal anterior chamber inflammation, and dene vitreou hemorrhage in the left eye. REULT: On the fourth potoperative day, ignificant anterior chamber inflammation developed with fibrin and a hypopyon. During vitrectomy with intravitreal antibiotic injection, an area of retiniti urrounding an eroded retinal blood veel wa found. Culture of undiluted vitreou fluid grew coagulae-negative taphylococcu organim. The endophthalmiti reolved and 20 month later, her bet-corrected viual acuity had improved to 20/40. CONCLUION: Potoperative endophthalmiti may preent a a vitreou hemorrhage, econdary to retiniti and eroion of a retinal blood veel.
