PURPOE: To report a eriou advere reaction aociated with verteporfin infuion. DEIGN: Obervational cae report. METHOD: Cae report of a ingle individual undergoing photodynamic therapy (PDT) with verteporfin. REULT: A 77-year-old man with long-tanding aymptomatic atrial fibrillation, but no known coronary artery dieae experienced evere chet and neck pain, hortne of breath, and yncope while undergoing a fourth photodynamic therapy (PDT) treatment with verteporfin. Thi infuion had been preceded by three prior infuion; the firt two were uneventful, and the third wa aociated with milder, but imilar ymptom. Evaluation demontrated that the chet pain wa noncardiac in origin. CONCLUION: A verteporfin continue to be ued around the world, phyician mut be alert to the poibility of eriou advere ide effect aociated with it ue.
