Abstract :
PURPOE: To evaluate afety and efficacy of photodynamic therapy with verteporfin for ubfoveal choroidal neovacularization aociated with angioid treak.
DEIGN: Propective interventional cae erie.
METHOD: Eight patient (eight eye) with ubfoveal choroidal neovacularization econdary to angioid treak were reviewed. tandardized protocol refraction, viual acuity teting, ophthalmologic examination, color photograph, fluorecein angiogram and indocyanine angiogram were ued to evaluate the reult of photodynamic therapy with verteporfin. Follow up ranged from 6 to 12 month with a mean (± D) of 8.75 (± 2.37) month.
REULT: Photodynamic therapy with verteporfin wa well tolerated in patient with choroidal neovacularization related to angioid treak. No deterioration in viual acuity wa oberved. Increae in median bet-corrected viual acuity wa 1.37 line (D ± 1.59 line, range 1–5 line) at the lat follow up. Two (25%) patient had no improvement of viual acuity. At the lat follow up three (37.5%) patient howed no leakage and three (37.5%) patient had minimal leakage from choroidal neovacularization. Photodynamic therapy related ocular complication were not reported in any cae.
CONCLUION: Photodynamic therapy with verteporfin generally achieved hort-term ceation of or decreae of fluorecein leakage from ubfoveal choroidal neovacularization without lo of viion in patient with angioid treak. Further tudie with longer follow up are neceary to confirm whether verteporfin therapy i beneficial for ubfoveal choroidal neovacularization related to angioid treak.
