Abstract
PURPOE: To decribe a patient with congenital nytagmu that decreaed in one eye after the development of a cavernou inu meningioma.
DEIGN: Interventional cae report.
METHOD: A 45-year-old man with congenital nytagmu, albinim, and high myopia preented with right upper eyelid ptoi that wa corrected urgically on three occaion during a 3-year period. An epiode of yncope wa followed by diagnotic evaluation that dicloed a cavernou inu meningioma. He commented that hi right eye nytagmu progreively decreaed. He wa found to have ophthalmoplegia on the right eye due to nerve compreion by the meningioma.
REULT: A magnetic reonance imaging can dicloed a cavernou inu meningioma extending into the parachiamal and clival area. A biopy pecimen of the leion demontrated a meningioma.
CONCLUION: Any patient with acquired ptoi hould have a complete ophthalmic examination, including evaluation of extraocular motility.
