Abstract
PURPOE: To report the performance of glaucoma ma creening with only a viual field tet utilizing frequency- doubling technology (FDT) perimetry in general population.
DEIGN: Hopital and population-baed cro-ectional tudy.
METHOD: Thi tudy took place in a multicenter etting. One hundred three conecutive glaucomatou patient and 14,814 peron were randomly elected. We had created a glaucoma creening protocol (GP) uing FDT perimetry (FDT-GP). Frequency-doubling technology-glaucoma creening protocol wa teted on conecutive glaucoma patient diagnoed with Humphrey viual field analyzer (30-2 ITA tandard), and then FDT-GP wa applied to general population. Frequency-doubling technology-glaucoma creening protocol poitive ubject were ophthalmologically diagnoed. Detection ability of FDT-GP wa determined in conecutive patient, and the poitive predictive value (PPV) of FDT-GP to detect definitive glaucoma wa etimated in general population.
REULT: Frequency-doubling technique-glaucoma creening protocol detected 83.3% and 100% of definitive glaucoma patient with an early (mean deviation [MD] > −6 dB) and more advanced tage (MD ≤ −6 dB), repectively. In the population-baed creening, there were 660 (4.5%) ubject who had poitive FDT-GP, including 512 in whom no viual field abnormalitie (VFA) had been pointed out previouly. Of them, 370 ubject underwent ophthalmologic diagnoi. Then, 266 (71.9%, 266/370) ubject had a glaucomatou dik and 167 had definitive glaucomatou VFA. Fifty-five (14.9%) and 39 (10.5%) ubject were diagnoed a having other dieae and a normal, repectively. The PPV of FDT-GP ranged from 32.6% (167/512)–45.1% (167/370).
CONCLUION: Frequency-doubling technology-baed creening with only a viual field tet howed reaonable performance on ma creening for detection of definitive glaucoma in thi tudy population, conidering the glaucoma prevalence.
