Antirecoverin antibody in the aqueou humor of a patient with cancer-aociated retinopathy

PURPOE: To decribe a patient with cancer-aociated retinopathy (CAR) in whom antirecoverin antibody wa found in the aqueou humor. DEIGN: Interventional cae report. METHOD: A 65-year-old man underwent reection of adenocarcinoma of the lung in June 1991 and noted deterioration of viion 10 month later. Goldmann perimetry revealed a ring-like cotoma in each eye, and the electroretinogram wa nonrecordable. Aqueou humor and peripheral venou blood were collected for Wetern blot analyi from thi patient and three other patient during urgery for age-related cataract. REULT: We found antirecoverin antibody within the aqueou humor and erum in the patient with CAR. In contrat, uch imunoreactivitie were not oberved in pecimen from the control patient. CONCLUION: Thee obervation trongly ugget that antirecoverin antibody penetrate into the aqueou humor and vitreou cavity beyond the blood-retina barrier in CAR.
