Chronic potoperative endophthalmiti due to peudomona oryzihabitan

PURPOE: To report a cae of chronic potoperative endophthalmiti caued by the gram-negative bacterium Peudomona oryzihabitan. DEIGN: Interventional cae report. METHOD: A 77-year-old man wa referred to our ervice for nonpainful uveiti in the right eye accompanied by increaed intraocular preure of 2 year’ duration with onet 4 month after uncomplicated extracapular cataract extraction and poterior chamber intraocular len implantation. The uveiti partially reponded to topical corticoteroid therapy but wa recurrent with tapering of teroid. An anterior chamber tap and vitreou biopie ent for culture were negative. Owing to the peritence of inflammation depite intraocular vancomycin injection, the len implant and capule were removed and culture of the latter revealed the bacterium P. oryzihabitan. REULT: There wa no recurrence of inflammation after removal of the len implant and capule. CONCLUION: Unlike other gram-negative organim, which are aociated with poor outcome, P. oryzihabitan may maquerade a chronic uveiti becaue of it low virulence.
