pontaneou appearance of an optic dik melanocytoma in an adult

PURPOE: To report a melanocytoma of the optic dik in an adult who had prior photographic documentation that the affected dik wa entirely normal. METHOD: Clinical evaluation and fundu photography. REULT: An aymptomatic 45-year-old woman wa found on routine ocular examination to have a typical melanocytoma in her right optic dik. Fundu photograph made 13 year earlier howed a normal right optic dik with no ign of melanocytoma or other pigmented leion. CONCLUION: Although optic dik melanocytoma i generally believed to be a congenital leion, it can apparently develop pontaneouly in adulthood.
