Porphyria cutanea tarda preenting a cicatricial conjunctiviti

PURPOE: To report a cae of porphyria cutanea tarda preenting a cicatricial conjunctiviti. DEIGN: Obervational tudy. METHOD: A 31-year-old man preented with bilateral inferior ymblepharon, uperior taral conjunctival carring and concretion, and recurrent conjunctival and epicleral injection. REULT: Four year after initial preentation, the patient developed hepatiti C, and 2 year later bliter on hi calp and hand. Direct immunofluorecence tudie of biopie taken from the palpebral conjunctiva of the right lower lid were negative for cicatricial pemphigoid. A twenty-four hour urine pecimen analyi revealed elevated level of uroporphyrin and polycarboxylated porphyrin, confirming the diagnoi of porphyria cutanea tarda. The patient wa treated with repeated phlebotomie and oral hydroxychloroquine, which reulted in a ignificant decreae in the kin leion, conjunctival injection, and concretion under the upper lid. CONCLUION: Cicatricial conjunctiviti may be a manifetation of porphyria cutanea tarda.
