Herpe zoter vaculiti preenting a giant cell arteriti with bilateral internuclear ophthalmoplegia

Purpoe To preent a cae of herpe zoter vaculiti preenting a giant cell arteriti. Deign Interventional cae report. Method A 77-year-old woman preented with udden onet of diplopia aociated with temple headache and a previou hitory of herpe zoter ophthalmicu. A temporal artery biopy wa obtained and in-itu hybridization performed for herpe zoter DNA. Reult The patient preented with a bilateral internuclear ophthalmoplegia. Initial diagnotic evaluation, including erythrocyte edimentation rate, C-reactive protein, and temporal artery biopy, wa conitent with giant cell arteriti. However, in-itu hybridization of the temporal artery pecimen wa poitive for herpe zoter DNA. Concluion Herpe zoter vaculiti may mimic giant cell arteriti and hould be conidered in the differential of any patient with preumed giant cell arteriti with upiciou finding, central nervou ytem involvement, or previou herpe zoter infection.
