Change of ocular aberration with accommodation

Purpoe To tudy the effect of accommodation on ocular aberration. Deign Obervational cae erie. Method The ocular aberration in 33 eye of 33 young adult were meaured with a Hartmann–hack wavefront aberrometer before and during 3 diopter of accommodation. Reult The root mean quare value of wavefront error did not change for a 4-mm and a 6-mm zone; however, pherical aberration changed ignificantly toward negativity for both the 4-mm zone (P < .001) and 6-mm zone (P = .022). Concluion During accommodation, the ignificant change in pherical aberration occur without a change of image quality. Therefore, for cutomized aberration, it may not be advantageou to eliminate the phyiologic pherical aberration for far viion.
