Magnetic reonance imaging in the diagnoi of ubretinal cyticercoi

Purpoe To report a cae of ocular cyticercoi and aociated magnetic reonance imaging (MRI) finding. Deign Interventional cae report. Method A 56-year-old woman from Ecuador preented with decreaed viion and an exudative retinal detachment in the left eye. ubretinal cyticercoi wa upected. Reult In the left eye, a ubretinal cyt evident on fundu examination wa invetigated with B-can ultraonography. Ultraonography howed a cytic tructure, and MRI of the orbit confirmed the upicion for cyticercoi. Magnetic reonance imaging of the brain alo revealed a mall parenchymal leion in the left occipital lobe of the brain. Concluion Magnetic reonance imaging i a ueful adjunct to B-can ultraonography in the diagnoi of ocular cyticercoi. Magnetic reonance imaging i uperior to computed tomography in the demontration of cytic tructure in the eye and central nervou ytem. Thi finding ha important therapeutic implication, a any viable cyticercu in the eye or cerebral parenchyma can be treated urgically or medically, repectively
