Abstract :
Purpoe To evaluate the ultraound biomicrocopic appearance of the anterior egment before and after cataract extraction in eye with plateau iri yndrome and to determine the effect of potoperative zonular relaxation on ciliary body poition. Deign Interventional cae erie. Method Eye with plateau iri yndrome canned before and after cataract extraction between January 1994 and eptember 2001 were enrolled. The iridociliary relationhip and the anterior chamber depth at a ditance of 3 mm from the cleral pur were aeed. Reult We examined ix eye of ix patient. Mean patient age wa 74.2 ± 6.4 year (tandard deviation [D]) (range, 65–81 year). Mean refractive error wa + 1.0 ± 3.9 diopter [D] (range, −5.75–+5.50), and mean axial length wa 21.85 ± 0.77 mm (range, 20.90–22.95 mm). All eye had undergone laer iridotomy and argon laer peripheral iridoplaty before cataract extraction. Ultraound biomicrocopy examination revealed a narrow angle and abence of a ciliary body ulcu in all eye with focal area of iridotrabecular appoition in three eye. Following cataract extraction, the anterior chamber depth increaed (P = .0006, paired t tet), while the iridociliary contact remained unchanged. Concluion Iridociliary appoition perit after cataract extraction in plateau iri yndrome. Whether the caue i congenital or acquired, or both, remain to be determined.
