Abstract :
Purpoe
To report a cae of a 27-year-old woman who preented with an acute right homonymou viual field deficit due to demyelination diagnoed by potproceing analyi of the magnetic reonance imaging (MRI).
Deign
Obervational cae report.
Method
Magnetic reonance imaging analyi with an exponential diffuion-weighted imaging.
Reult
On MRI, a left occipital leion with mild enhancement after gadolinium infuion on the T1-weighted image, bright ignal with ome ma effect on the T2-weighted image, and the diffuion-weighted imaging uggeted a diagnoi of an acute infarct. With the ue of the exponential image technique, the T2 hyperintene ignal preent on the diffuion tudy wa almot completely eliminated, changing the diagnoi and treatment plan. ubequent examination and MRI confirmed the diagnoi of demyelinating dieae.
Concluion
In dieae uch a cerebral ichemia and demyelination, MRI diffuion i often abnormal becaue uch dieae modify the integrity of central nervou ytem tructure. A technique that ubtract the T2 contribution to the diffuion-weighted imaging analyi upported a diagnoi of an acute demyelinating epiode that wa ubequently confirmed
