Intramucular hydatid cyt of the medial rectu mucle

Purpoe To decribe a unique cae of orbital hydatid cyt that wa located olely within the medial rectu mucle. Deign Retropective, interventional cae report. Method A 20-year-old woman preented with right periocular pain induced by ocular movement. Magnetic reonance imaging tudie howed a focal, well-circumcribed intramucular cytic leion of the right medial rectu mucle. The cyt wa completely extirpated from the mucle, but ome of the fluid content ecaped into the urrounding tiue. Irrigation with hypertonic aline wa performed. Reult Hitopathologic examination howed an acellular cyt wall with inner germinal layer, diagnotic for hydatid cyt. Two cycle of oral albendazole were adminitered with no recurrence. Concluion In the orbit, hydatid cyt may be localized primarily within an extraocular mucle and produce painful eye movement. Hydatid cyt mut be conidered in the differential diagnoi of olitary cytic enlargement of extraocular mucle
