  • Abstract
Purpoe To report poturgery angioedema reulting in malignant glaucoma. Deign Interventional cae report. Method Three hour after uncomplicated cataract urgery on the right eye, a 61-year-old woman developed angioedema with welling of the parapharyngeal tiue. Viual acuity deteriorated, and tonometry revealed an intraocular preure of 60 mm Hg, with hallow anterior chamber, in both eye. Reult Ultraound howed choroidal effuion on both eye. Intraocular preure could only be controlled urgically by procedure to deepen the anterior chamber. The angioedema regreed after withdrawal of candeartan, an angiotenin II antagonit that the patient had taken for 1 year. Concluion Angioedema without urticaria i well documented in patient receiving angiotenine-converting enzyme inhibitor or angiotenin II antagonit. Drug-related angioedema may lead to a choroidal effuion yndrome with malignant glaucoma. urgical intervention may trigger angioedema. Mot important in treatment i withdrawal from the implicated medication and control of intraocular preure.
