Continuou outflow device for macular tranlocation with 360-degree retinotomy

Purpoe eparation of the retina from retinal pigment epithelium i the mot difficult tep in macular tranlocation urgery. To complete thi critical tep, we have developed two pecially deigned continuou outflow needle, a rigid needle for creating retinal detachment and a liquid perfluorocarbon injection needle with a oft tip. Deign Experimental tudy, new intrument development. Method To permit continuou outflow during eparation of the retina from the retinal pigment epithelium, the haft of the continuou outflow needle i maller than 20 gauge in diameter to allow continuou flow of fluid from the vitreou cavity. Reult Thee intrument have been ued uccefully in 54 eye that underwent macular tranlocation with 360-degree retinotomy. The rigid needle create afe retinal detachment by keeping intraocular preure lower, which i trictly needed for thi tep. The injection needle facilitate injection of perfluorocarbon liquid while manipulating the retina gently with it oft tip. Concluion Continuou outflow intrument are ueful tool becaue they facilitate critical tep in the delicate proce of macular tranlocation urgery.
