Abstract :
Purpoe
To preent a cae of a primary orbital leiomyoarcoma and the correponding magnetic reonance imaging (MRI) appearance.
Deign
Obervational cae report.
Method
Correlation of MRI with clinicopathologic finding.
Reult
A 56-year-old woman preented with a 10-month hitory of diplopia in left gaze and left exophthalmo. An enhanced MRI of the left orbit revealed an extraconal, peripheral-enhancing ma meauring 2 cm in maximal diameter with diplacement of the medial rectu mucle. The ma wa excied, and the diagnoi of leiomyoarcoma wa made by pathologic examination.
Concluion
Although computed tomography can and ultraound have been the imaging modalitie ued previouly to evaluate cae of primary orbital leiomyoarcoma, MRI can provide important additional information regarding tumor characterization that i ueful in the diagnoi and treatment of thi rare malignancy.
