Abstract :
Purpoe To evaluate the relationhip between optic nerve head (ONH) meaurement generated by optical coherence tomography (OCT; verion 2 and 3) and confocal canning laer ophthalmocopy (CLO) and to compare the aociation between OCT and CLO ONH meaurement with glaucoma dieae tatu, a determined by clinical evaluation and perimetry. Deign Cro-ectional tudy. Method In a propective tudy in the glaucoma ervice of an academic department of ophthalmology, 159 eye (97 ubject) and 77 eye (44 ubject) were recruited in two eparate period. All ubject were canned with a CLO device. ubject teted within the firt period of recruitment were canned with OCT verion 2 and in the econd period with OCT verion 3. The main outcome meaure wa the correlation between automatic and manually defined OCT ONH meaurement and the correlation of CLO and OCT ONH meaurement between device and with glaucoma dieae tatu. Reult A high correlation wa found between ONH meaurement obtained by the automatic determination of ONH margin and thoe obtained by manual tracing of the dik margin (r = .93 to .98). Optical coherence tomography and CLO ONH meaurement were highly correlated. Optical coherence tomography-meaured mean dik area wa ignificantly larger than that meaured by CLO, a were all other dik ize-related parameter. The area under the receiver operator characteritic (AROC) curve for the aociation between CLO and OCT ONH meaurement and clinical diagnoi were found to be imilar and in the range of 0.47 to 0.79 for both device. Concluion Automated OCT ONH meaurement correlate highly with thoe obtained by manual tracing of dik margin. Optical coherence tomography and CLO ONH analye are highly correlated and have imilar aociation with glaucoma dieae tatu.
