Obervation of idiopathic Full-thickne macular hole cloure in early potoperative period a evaluated by optical coherence tomography

Purpoe To report the optical coherence tomography (OCT)-determined progreive change in a macular hole (MH) following vitreou urgery with a ga tamponade. Deign Obervational cae report. Method A 60-year-old woman with an idiopathic full-thickne MH (Ga, tage 2) in the left eye underwent vitreou urgery with a ga tamponade. The progreive cloure of the MH wa followed by OCT becaue an unplanned decreae of the ga tamponade made the macula acceible to OCT examination. Reult On day 1, the tiue urrounding the MH extended into the center, and on day 2, the ubretinal fluid and foveal cyt decreaed and the retinal eparation wa reduced. On the third potoperative day, the MH wa cloed and the foveal contour wa imilar to that of normal retina. Concluion Thee reult demontrated that a mall MH appear to be cloed by 3 day after vitrectomy with ga tamponade. Although we cannot generalize to all ize of MH, our finding ugget that mall MH are cloed much earlier than reported and that the duration of maintaining a prone poition can be hortened.
