Intraocular diperion of perfluorocarbon liquid inilicone oil

Purpoe To report one cae of intraocular emulification of perfluorocarbon liquid (PFCL) and ilicone oil after vitrectomy urgery. Deign Interventional cae report. Method Retropective review of the clinic, and urgical record of a 39-year old female referred for peritent retinal detachment after vitrectomy urgery; PFCL and ilicone oil were left in the eye at the end of the urgery. Reult There wa intraocular emulification of PFCL into ilicone oil. Electron microcope examination of the ilicone oil urgically extracted from the eye demontrated emulification of mall PFCL bubble into the ilicone oil. Concluion Perfluorocarbon liquid are urgical tool. They hould be completely removed from the eye at the end of the urgery; PFCL and ilicone oil tend to emulify together, originating an opaque fluid, which contain both ilicone oil and dipered PFCL bubble.
