Abstract :
Purpoe
To preent the clinical and hitologic finding of a patient in whom intumecent cataract developed after ucceful topical mitomycin-C (MMC) chemotherapy for conjunctival melanoma originating from primary acquired conjunctival melanoi (PAM) with atypia.
Deign
Obervational cae report; follow-up at 30 month.
Method
In a patient with PAM and ubequent conjunctival melanoma that wa uccefully treated with topical MMC chemotherapy an intumecent cataract developed after two cycle of 0.04% MMC, each for 1 month.
Reult
After MMC chemotherapy pigmentation of the acquired melanoi vanihed almot completely. Hitopathology of the check-up pecimen revealed local tumor control. ix week after the completion of the econd cycle, an intumecent cataract developed. Cataract urgery wa performed uneventfully. The patient wa followed up for 30 month.
Concluion
In elected cae, topical MMC chemotherapy i effective for treating conjunctival melanoma. Although evere complication are rare and uually tranient, development of cataract may be oberved. A propective tudy hould be initiated.
