Cytomegaloviru retiniti and FK 506

Purpoe To report a cae of cytomegaloviru (CMV) retiniti in a patient immunouppreed with FK 506. Deign Interventional cae report. Method Retropective intitutional tudy. One patient, diagnoed with bilateral CMV retiniti while on immunouppreive treatment with FK 506, received ytemic ganciclovir and intravitreal, low-releae ganciclovir implant in one eye, combined with reduction in FK 506 doe. Main outcome meaure were viual acuity and regreion of CMV retiniti. Reult Viual acuity at preentation wa 20/20 in the right eye and 20/50 in the left eye. During the 6 month of follow-up, there wa no change in viual acuity in either eye. The area of CMV retiniti demontrated progreive regreion, leaving diffue retinal atrophy. Concluion Cytomegaloviru retiniti can be a ight-threatening complication of immunouppreive treatment with FK 506. Ganciclovir treatment together with a reduction in FK 506 doe wa effective in preerving viion.
