ilicone oil migration in the eyelid after vitrectomy for retinal detachment

Purpoe To report a cae of ilicone oil intruion in the upper eyelid, expreed by ptoi occurrence 19 year after urgery. Method Vitrectomy followed by trancleral ubretinal fluid drainage and ilicone oil tamponade wa performed on a 57-year-old man for retinal detachment. Nineteen year later, the patient wa referred for mobile ubcutaneou lump of the upper right eyelid. Preoperative examination howed total invaion of the eyelid by ilicone oil, a confirmed by pathology. Reult ilicone oil leak developed through the trancleral drainage lumen and worened with ocular hypertenion. We aume that ptoi wa induced by the weight of inflammatory tiue and conequently the development of a lymphoedema. Concluion We report a cae of ilicone ptoi. Two concomitant factor induced oil leakage: the puncture ite and potoperative hypertonia.
